Happy Holidays

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a great holiday. My holidays were a nice mix of traditions and changing things up. I am exactly half Polish (on my mum's side), and we have a traditional Polish Christmas Eve. Christmas Day isn't really all that important, but Christmas Eve is the big show. We have an even number of guests and an odd number of dishes that include pierogi made from scratch, kielbasa, fish, beets, green beans, pickled herring, and more. The myth is that every year, children have to try the pickled herring. If they like it, they are officially an adult. If they don't they are still a kid. I happen to LOVE it. I also love being a part of a culture that I know a little bit about. It's a lot of fun to participate in my cultural traditions.

Every year, I am in charge of the table setting. This year, I went a bit more rustic with a great chalkboard paper table runner I found at paper source. Since we had 16 people, we rented chairs to make things easier. It worked out for me that they actually went with the table setting.

For my outfit, I wanted to go silver & black but I wanted to be comfortable enough to eat as much food as I could. I used my most comfy black leggings, and a loose black tank. To dress it up, I wore my glitter heels and silver jacket.

I know it's been a long time since I last posted. There are a few reasons for that. First, the holidays. It's amazing to me how as I get older, the holidays seem to get crazier and crazier. This year, I fell behind on a lot of things. While I enjoyed my holidays a lot, I'm kind of relieved they are over. I'm looking forward to getting back into my routine, to having more time to explore and to have more time to deticate to my blog. And that leads me to my second reason. I took a break to really think about what I want this blog to be. It was becoming more and more difficult to shoot my outfits when I get off work at 6pm and it's already dark. I also came up with a list of places I want to epxlore and write about, but then often times didn't have the energy to do anything about it.

So, I think I have come up with a better system to create better content. The biggest part of that is I am going to make each post a bit more about the photographer. Since I live pretty independently, I don't have one person in my life that helps me photograph my otfits. Luckily for me, a lot of my friends have offered to help me out. Every time I hand my camera over, I leave the shoot entirely up to them. I want them to direct me. It's always fun to see what they come up with and how the pictures turn out.

Today, my friend Kelly shot the pics. She is one of my closest friends. Although originally from LA, she now lives in Alabama. It was amazing to have her back here to visit.
